Vacation with Your Dog at stieg'nhaus – A Warm Welcome
Our Amy is part of our daily lives and enriches them anew every day. Anyone who has a dog knows just how special that bond is and how wonderful it is to explore together, even while on vacation.
That’s why it was clear to us from the very beginning that dogs are warmly welcome at stieg’nhaus. After all, why should you have to do without your four-legged companion during the most beautiful time of the year?
All around Mühlbach am Hochkönig in the Salzburg region, there are many wonderful opportunities to explore nature together—from short walks right outside the front door to long hikes through the mountains—and in every season.
What Your Dog Can Expect at stieg'nhaus
We know from experience that you usually have to pack a little more when going on vacation with your dog. That’s why we’d like to take some of the burden off your shoulders and make the arrival as pleasant as possible for our four-legged guests, too.
A small selection of amenities for your dog is already waiting for you in your suite:
- A cozy dog bed
- Food and water bowls
- A small welcome gift
- Poop bags for on the go
After a long walk through the mountains or a winter day in the snow, you can also use our dog washing station with warm water. This is incredibly handy, especially when your dog has wet or dirty paws.
Your dog doesn’t have to stay in the room during meals either. Well-behaved dogs that remain calm are welcome to accompany you to our restaurant.
We simply love it when you can spend the day together—first a walk in the fresh air, then a leisurely breakfast, or a nice dinner in the evening, while your dog relaxes right beside you.
Up to two dogs are welcome per suite. The fee is €25 per dog per night.
Take a walk right from the hotel—along the stream through Mühlbach
A lovely option for a daily walk starts right outside our front door. From the stieg'nhaus, a walking trail leads through Mühlbach am Hochkönig and along a small stream toward the Karbachalm gondola station.
This path has a charm all its own, especially in the fall when the leaves change color and in the winter when snow covers the rooftops. The sound of the stream and the surrounding landscape turn even a short walk into a little break from the daily grind.
There are dog waste bags and trash cans along the path. It’s ideal for a relaxing walk before breakfast or a final stroll in the evening.
Winter Walk with the Dog at Hochkeil
The Hochkeil is one of our favorite spots for a winter walk with the dog. Just a short drive from the stieg'nhaus, a beautiful winter landscape awaits you, featuring snow-covered forests, crisp mountain air, and impressive views of the Hochkönig massif.
A winter hiking trail about 1.5 kilometers long runs alongside the cross-country ski trail, past the small lift, and on through the peaceful mountain landscape. This place has a very special charm, especially on sunny winter days when the snow glistens and the peaks are bathed in sunlight.
It’s a wonderful way to enjoy the fresh mountain air with your dog and experience the tranquil side of winter at the Hochkönig.
Winter Hike with Your Dog to the Kopphütte
Another beautiful destination for a winter hike with your dog is the Kopphütte in Mühlbach am Hochkönig. The trail winds through the snow-covered landscape, and you can adjust the length of the hike depending on your preferences and fitness level.
For a shorter hike, start at the Kopphütte parking lot on Mandlwandstraße. From there, Winter Hiking Trail No. 86 leads about 1.5 kilometers to the hut. You should plan on spending about 45 to 50 minutes for the ascent.
If you’d like a longer hike, you can start right in the center of Mühlbach. The roughly 4.5-kilometer route leads uphill toward the Kopphütte and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountain landscape along the way.
After the hike, the Kopphütte invites you to stop in for a cozy break during its winter opening hours. It is generally open to winter hikers starting after Christmas. We recommend checking the current opening hours before your trip.
A wonderful destination for anyone who wants to spend a little more time out and about with their dog in the winter.
